Blue, translucid, sometimes green, sometimes crystalline, these astonishing features are found in rivers, lakes, and even oceans. Water is a vital resource for life on Earth. There are marvellous things under the oceans, from new species to be discovered to uncharted lands into deep beneath the Pacific Ocean. The ocean is home to nearly 95% of all life, which means that 95% is aquatic life and the 5% is land. There is a peculiar fact about the ocean. We suppose that we already know all about life in the water, but that is not completely true. There are more explorations to the moon than explorations about life in water. Some of the biggest companies prefer to finance research about the moon (even planets that can be found in such long distances) than our own oceans. The ocean is a great source of oxygen. In this blog entry, I will mention peculiar details about our most important fountain of life. First, I will tell you how many oceans there are; then, I’ll mention some kinds of sea animals you can find; and finally, I am going to tell you one of the reasons of why the ocean can provide us with oxygen and why it is salty.

Everyone knows that there are millions of species of plants and animals living under water in the ocean, from the tiniest organisms to the gargantuan blue whale, the planet’s biggest animal that exist in our marvellous world. Aquatic life is so interesting, because we can find distinct kinds of fish, but there are more undiscovered species. Fish, octopi, squid, eels, dolphins, and whales swim the open waters while crabs, starfish, oysters, and snails crawl and scoot along the ocean bottom. Our oceans are completely full of splendid aquatic life.

Our planet is a colossal body that is unique in the solar system. Due to the oceans, life exists. But there is not only one ocean is this gigantic stone. As far as we know, there are four oceans that exist in this moment of human history. But I’m going to mention 2 of them. The first ocean is called The Arctic Ocean, and its surroundings are only ice, a completely frozen environment. It is the smallest of the four oceans, covering about 6 million square miles. Second, we have The Atlantic Ocean. It is the second largest ocean at 52 million square miles. There are different climates in the northern and southern parts of the Atlantic Ocean due to its massive size.

It is peculiar to know that our oceans can provide us with oxygen. But one of the reasons about that is because of phytoplankton. A microscopic organism that floats at the surface, and through photosynthesis, produce about half of the world’s oxygen. And why are the oceans salty? Salt in the ocean comes from two sources: first, runoff from the land and second, openings in the seafloor. Rocks on land are the major source of salts dissolved in seawater. Rainwater that falls on land is slightly acidic, so it erodes rocks.

In summary, our world is full of marvellous nature, animals, and plants. We must take care of it because it is our only home where we can live. As I mentioned before, some parts of the oceans are unknown, so we do not know what else we can find in the deep beneath of our oceans, either new class of aquatic life or unusual new family of plants and animals. Deepwater has many mysteries to solve, so we should have more details about what is happening underwater. Humans could find out that there could be more exciting things in the oceans than in other places.
