We Can Be Friends
They’re completely different, and it gave me a lot of comforts to be able to grow up in an environment without fear of animals.
When is it necessary to have a pet? Well, this is uncertain because not all people have the maturity, economy, space, and patience to care for pets. Some of us grew up in an environment with pets, and others grew up without pets. Some people hate animals, and others are allergic to some kinds of pets. I have a cousin who’s allergic to animal fur, so I considered that pets weren’t necessary for all of us. All life, I grew up surrounded by animals of really different species, like dogs, cats, hens, chickens, ducks, and turtles. They’re completely different, and it gave me a lot of comfort to be able to grow up in an environment without fear of animals. For this blog entry, I'll point out why I considered how important it is to have a pet; then, I’ll tell you how I grew up with different kind of animals; and finally, I’ll give you some tips about how to choose what kind of animals are good for people with allergies.
In my example, my first dog was rescued from the street. She seemed to be 2 or 3 months old and was very small, just like me. I was 2 years old, but I can remember hearing a little dog cry in a corner, so I asked my mom if we could keep her for us. My mom told me a rude "no,” and I felt sad because the little dog was crying so loud, and I started to cry too. Perhaps because I was crying and the little dog was too, my mom changed her mind, and we saved the dog. The dog’s name was Titina Chisuka, and we grew up together, having adventures and learning many things in the 12 years we were together. Sadly, she died in April 2018. I loved her and gave my best for her; furthermore, I have wonderful memories of us playing and having fun. Therefore, I considered that having a pet could be a great experience for children. I’m not afraid of these animals. I think how I grew up with different kind of animals and collecting insects for my grandma’s hens I’m not afraid of those either.
I did not only grew up with this dog. As I mentioned before, I grew up surrounded by farm animals, exotic animals and domestic animals. My mom and sister used to like Australian birds, my dad used to like turtles and dogs, as the same time my grandma used to like hens, chickens and ducks. My grandmother since she moved to capital’s country, she bought some farm birds, and she takes care of these animals. I saw some of my friends being afraid of some insects, mice and rats and they were surprised to hear me talk about my personal experience. A pet could create a good environment for children as they grow up. Moreover, you can adopt animals and give them a home. You can make a life for these animals that are in shelters or in veterinarians' offices, suffering precariousness.
Several times, people have learned through contact with animals that their allergies aren’t normal but are common. I have a cousin who’s allergic to cat fur. Her parents noticed that through her daily contact with a cat, so she needed to take some medicines to deal with it. After that situation, they preferred to adopt a dog, and they noticed my cousin was not allergic to dogs. For this case, I say you need to look for the best option for you and your family if someone is allergic to a kind animal skin. You can try to have a turtle, birds, or fish, so there are different species to choose from. But remember that choosing an animal is not simply choosing an animal; you need to investigate the animal, the care of it, provide the correct environment for it, observe the animal’s behavior, and estimate the expenses you are able to incur.
To summarize, having a pet can make childhood great and change your life. You can get many nice memories and learn about responsibility, respect, love, patience. You can become more emphatic, considered, and for an animal you can become the best part of their life, someone who’s can make them happy, lucky, fearless. Just give the first step, adopt an animal, and your life could be better.
