Importance of Trees
Trees are extremely important, not only for us but for everyone and everything on the planet.
You cannot eat money, oh no
You cannot eat money, oh no
When the last tree has fallen
And the rivers are poisoned
You cannot eat money, oh no
Oh no

A magnificent, spiritual, beautiful, incredible living being: a tree. Sometimes we forget how important trees are, or even worse, we forget trees are living beings. Because a tree doesn’t move or talk but is alive, it exists with us. We are used to seeing trees every day and everywhere, and we say, ‘Yeah, it’s just a tree,’ but it’s more than just a tree; it’s the reason why we are breathing and the reason why we live now. I had forgotten how essential trees are, and in these last weeks, thanks to my English classes, I became more conscious and aware of trees again. Now I admire all the trees that I see, and I have also tried some exercises for sharing energy with trees that I have learned in class, and even planted a tree. Thus, in this blog entry, I’m going to explain to you how the system that we live in now is killing trees; then, I will explain my experience planting a tree; and lastly, I will explain why I think everyone should plant a tree.
Trees are extremely important, not only for us but for everyone and everything on the planet. They give us food and oxygen, and for the animals, they give them food as well as shelter. But sadly, many trees are felled each year. Big companies cut down a lot of trees; it is alarming. The saddest thing is that we know that companies do this, but we don’t care about it. On social media, I have watched videos talking about this horrible situation, and I have felt bad, but then I scrolled and I forgot about the trees. And even sometimes, I thought that we have a lot of trees and that maybe we don’t need more trees. But the reality is that we need more trees in our world. Big companies only care about money, but you can’t eat money; money can never give us what trees give us. We need to be more conscious about what we are consuming, and if we feel bad about trees, we should do something. Feeling bad doesn’t improve anything.
Because of that, in our class, we decided to plant trees, the original idea was to go to a reforestation event. Unfortunately, things weren’t going as planned, so we decided to try another idea. We planted a tree on our own, in our house, or a green area. I decided to plant mine in my parents’ house; they live in Jutiapa, and they have a lot of space in their house. The land there was beautiful, and now that I’m more conscious of trees, I have to say that I enjoyed seeing the trees more and being surrounded by them. The process of planting a tree was so much more difficult than I thought. I had reforested a few years ago, but I hadn’t had to go through the whole process. So, I didn’t know what I was supposed to do. My mom helped me choose the ideal place and explained the process to me. I was really excited to plant a tree on my own. The process was hard, yes, but it was worth it in the end. It was a gratifying experience, and I can’t wait to see how the tree will grow.
After planting a tree on my own, I have to say that it is something I would recommend everyone to do. It is not expensive, and you are helping the planet if you do it. Perhaps here in the city, it is difficult to find places to plant a tree, but it is not impossible; you only have to try. I can promise you that it will be a nice experience. Trees are really important for us, for our environment, and for the whole world. We need to take care of them because, without them, we could die. If you really want to make a change and help the planet, then plant a tree and take care of it. It seems like a small thing, but that small thing would change a lot about our world. I think that everyone should plant a tree.

In a nutshell, trees are extraordinarily important for all of us. Sometimes we can forget about that, but we have to change our minds and start to be more conscious of what we are doing to the trees. I decided to plant a tree, and I will plant more in the future. I don’t want to forget again how important trees are. I firmly believe that everyone should plant a tree, and that would help our world a lot.
