Anxiety Is More Common That We Think

Fortunately, people have found many ways to control and decrease the symptoms of anxiety and can help us not let anxiety control our lives.

Everyone has felt anxiety at some point in our lives. But something that we don’t realize is that this is more common than we think, because it is a natural reaction of our body in front of stressful situations or concerns that we have. In my life, I have suffered many episodes of anxiety. Because I hadn’t learned to identify this, and I used to let anxiety control my life. So, in this blog entry, I’m going to explain what anxiety is and how we can identify it; then, I’ll tell you about some damage that anxiety does in our body; and lastly, I will share with you some tips that you can do to control your anxiety when you feel it.

In our lives, we always experience situations of stress, for example, when we have a public presentation, a new project, or we have to make a change in our life. Anxiety can appear in these situations because it is a very common emotion that helps us to adapt to new or uncertain situations that we face every day. My dad, who is a teacher, when he had to give his first class in front of many students, days before he felt very bad, he had insomnia for several days, feeling of vomiting and he was very nervous. Here is when anxiety appears, when we have to face unknown situations. As we see, the most common symptoms that we can experience when we have anxiety are; panic, nausea, dizziness, sweating, insomnia, and lack of concentration.

Feeling anxiety is something normal in life, but if we experience this frequently, it can cause damage in our body and mental health.  As we see, anxiety can produce many symptoms. Like insomnia that if we suffer from it often, can cause other disorders in our body, such as headache; irritability, sadness, blood pressure and lack of concentration.

Fortunately, people have found many ways to control and decrease the symptoms of anxiety, and can help us not let the anxiety control our lives. The first tip is, distract our mind with something that makes us feel better. It could be, going for a walk every day, where you can breathe fresh air, and see nature that will be good to give peace to your mind. Another activity that helps you to control anxiety is to use digital resources that can teach you activities, like yoga, guided meditation, and breathing techniques.  Most of these applications are free for everyone.

To summarize, Anxiety is something hard, that most people suffer today. It is a reaction of our body prepares us to face to stressful situations, so it is something natural. However, if we constantly experience it, it can affect our health, causing more problems in our body and mind. So it is important to learn ways to control it to live a more peaceful life.
